The journal Historein<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is organizing a conference under the title “Revolution and Empire in the Mediterranean: The Greek Revolution in context<\/strong>” in collaboration with the British School at Athens<\/a><\/strong> and the Research Centre for the Humanities<\/strong>, with the support of Initiative 1821-2021<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/span>ISRF & RCH: The Digital Condition and Humanities Knowledge<\/div>

In the context of their long collaboration,\u00a0 the Research Centre for the Humanities and the Independent Social Research Foundation (ISRF)<\/a> are organizing a joint conference, titled “The Digital Condition and Humanities Knowledge<\/strong>“, where fellows and associates of both institutions will be participating.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Greece and Norway: European center, periphery or it\u2019s complicated?<\/div>
\n

The conference “Greece and Norway: European center, periphery or it\u2019s complicated?<\/strong>” is co-organised by the the Research Centre for the Humanities<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(RCH)<\/a> and the Norwegian Institute at Athens\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>(NIA)<\/a>, in collaboration with the Fridtjof Nansen Institute<\/strong> (FNI)<\/a>, with the support of the Department of Art Theory and History of the Athens School of Fine Arts<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(ASFA)<\/a>, and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Athens<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong> The conference will take place on April 11th<\/strong>, 2022<\/strong> and will be streamed online via zoom.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Workshop: \u0391cademic Publications in a \u201cphygital\u201d world: new challenges for authors, publishers, readers<\/div>
\n

The RCH’s Digital Library team aims to explore new tendencies in digital publishing, with specific concern about the accessibility to high quality publishing for younger academics.<\/p>\n

We wish to share our thoughts about expanding the limits of an academic publication by taking advantage of the new possibilities unfolding in a digital environment. The aim is to discuss best practices and standards for open-access academic monographs in the fields of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Academic publishing is one of the world\u2019s big businesses and as such is shaped by big players, funding, politics, and technology. The question is whether it is possible to create inroads to this reality by setting up a sustainable, non-profit, open-access publishing enterprise which will endorse a \u201cfair-trade\u201d approach to academic publishing and will aim at creating a community of readers rather than a market for subscriptions.<\/p>\n

\n

The Research Centre for the Humanities, the National Hellenic Research Foundations and the General State Archives co-organized a two-day conference, titled \u201c1821 Digital Archive: archival questions, research prospects, digital challenges<\/strong>\u201d.
\nThe conference was held in the \u201cLeonidas Zervas\u201d Auditorium, of the National Hellenic Research Foundation on March 14-15, 2019.<\/p>\n

<\/span>2nd Pelion Summer Lab for Cultural Theory and Experimental Humanities<\/div>

The Research Centre for the Humanities (RCH) co-organized the 2nd annual Summer Lab along with the Department of History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology and the Laboratory of Social Anthropology of the University of Thessaly. The Summer Lab took place in Chania, Pelion on June 28-July 8 2018.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Conference about Digital Humanities<\/div>
\n

In the framework of the\u00a01821 Digital Archive<\/strong>\u00a0project, the\u00a0Research Centre for the Humanities (RCH)<\/strong>\u00a0organized a 1-day conference under the title \u00abDigital Humanities in Greece: Concerns and Challenges\u00bb (February 16th<\/sup>, 2018). The conference introduced a reflective conversation about the present and future of Digital Humanities. Drawing from the project\u2019s experience of working and researching within a digital environment, the conference investigated the epistemological components of Digital Humanities, focused on diverse humanities fields in relation to the impact of digitality on their theories and methods, and critically presented a selection of digital humanities applications.<\/p>\n

<\/span>CERN History Days<\/div>
\n

The CERN History Days Workshop took place on 1-2 February 2018. It was organized by CERN<\/strong>\u00a0in collaboration with the\u00a0Research Centre for the Humanities (RCH)<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0Max Planck Institute for the History of Science<\/strong>. The aim of the workshop was to investigate the possibility of relaunching the earlier\u00a0CERN history project<\/em>, which was concluded in 1996 with the publication of a collected 3-volume edition on the history of CERN from 1954 to 1980.<\/p>\n
