Olga Gkiouleka (1994) is a graduate of the Department of Philology at the University of Ioannina. In 2019, she obtained a master’s degree in Medieval Greek Philology with Honors from the same University. In 2023, she defended her doctoral thesis, titled “Marcos Defaranas: The Poems. Critical Edition with Introduction and Commentary” (grade: Excellent) and was declared a Doctor of Medieval and Modern Greek Philology at the University of Ioannina. She was honored with the “Emmanuel Roidis” fellowship from the Academy of Athens from 2020 to 2023 for her dissertation. Since the beginning of 2024, she has been a postdoctoral researcher at the same University and an Academic Fellow at the Research Center for the Humanities (RCH). Her research interests are focused on the study of works of post- Byzantine/ Early Modern Greek literature. She mainly investigates issues related to their tradition, reception, and editing process, as well as their sources and their connection to Byzantine, Western Medieval, and Renaissance literature. She is proficient in English, Italian, and Spanish, and possesses excellent knowledge of Greek, Latin, and Italian paleography. She has presented her research findings at international conferences both in Greece and abroad and has published articles in journals and conference volumes.
