Vangelis Papadimitropoulos has obtained his Ph.D. on the political philosophy of Cornelius Castoriadis from the University of Crete. He is a postdoctoral researcher at Panteion University of Athens, Department of Economic and Regional Development. He is the Principal Investigator in the research program “Techno-Social Innovation in the Collaborative Economy”, funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I.) for the years 2022-2024. The research program investigates the role of open-source technologies and the digital commons in the creation of a collaborative economy through a multi-case study approach in Greece (P2PLab and Tzoumakers), France (CoopCycle), Germany (Circles UBI) and Australia (Open Food Network). Vangelis Papadimitropoulos’ research interests range from political philosophy and political theory to political economy, technology studies and sustainability. In particular, Vangelis Papadimitropoulos examines the interrelation of the political theory of the commons with cooperative economic models such as the free and open-source software/hardware, the digital commons, platform cooperatives, open cooperatives and Distributed Autonomous Organisations (DAOs) on Blockchain. He has participated in several conferences making presentations on political theory, digitisation, commons-based economics, among others, and have published extensively in peer-reviewed journals (https://crete.academia.edu/vangelispapadimitropoulos).
