Mystery 32 OPEN ELEUSIS – “Elefsina tells her memories”

Mystery 32 Open Eleusis – Oral History Seminar “Elefsina tells her memories”

How was life in our city when factory machines could be heard everywhere? When the smells from the chimneys came into the house? When the workers’ parties were held in the factory yards? Eleusis is changing, the industries are disappearing and the life of the city is changing, but the memories of the people are still alive. Can we take firm steps in the present if we do not know our past?

In the context of “Mystery 32 OPEN ELEUSIS – One Documentary, Many Histories”, the first oral history introduction meeting entitled “Eleusis tells its memories” was  organized at the Old Railway Station of Eleusis with the aim of creating an oral history group of the city.

The participants, under the guidance of historian Tasoula Verbeniotis and with the support of cinematographer Michalis Kastanidis, were introduced to oral history and  interview techniques, aiming to create an audio-visual archive of oral testimonies of the city’s residents.
