RCH Researchers’ Seminars

One of the RCH’s main missions is to build substantial bonds with its researchers, cultivating public scientific discourse.

Starting in 2018, the RCH has started holding scientific meetings of all its post-doctoral researchers, aiming to create a wider network of young scholars and a dynamic new scientific community in the Humanities, with RCH as its reference point.

Seminar by Nikolas Dimakis & Nikos Kouremenos

The 9th RCH Researcher’s Seminar was held on Friday November 23rd 2018.

Nikolas Dimakis presented the research project he conducted in 2016 titled “The Archaeology of Child Death: children burials in Classical and Hellenistic Attica” and Nikos Kouremenos his, titled “Renaissance of Coptic Literature and the entourage of Patriarch Damian (578-605): Τhe Formation of the Coptic Identity” which was funded by RCH in 2017.

Seminar by research group of E. Goudarouli, V. Routsis and M. Patiniotis & Nikos Potamianos

The research group of E. Goudarouli, V. Routsis and M. Patiniotis presented their project “Mapping the Enlightenment: Intellectual Networks and the Making of Knowledge in the European Periphery” (2017) and Nikos Potamianos presented his research titled “The carnival of Athens, 1800-1940. Popular culture, bourgeois culture, hegemony” (2017) during the 8th RCH Researchers’ Seminar, held on Friday November 2nd 2018.

Seminar by Hypatia Vourloumis and Constantin Irodotou

On Friday October 29th 2018 the 7th RCH Researchers’ Seminar took place. The research “Performancescapes: Fugitive Athens and the Arts of the Possible” conducted by Hypatia Vourloumis on 2016 was presented by her. Constantin Irodotou presented his research titled “Adamantios Korais – Towards an intellectual biography: His medical work”(2018).

Seminar by research group of G. Cantoro, S. Michalopoulou and C. Tsigonaki & research group of D. Catapoti, I. Skounaki and G. Goumopoulou

The 6th RCH Researcher’s Seminar was held on Friday June 22nd 2018.

The research project of the group of G. Cantoro, S. Michalopoulou and C. Tsigonaki titled “HIGH-ABOVE-THE-MOUNTAINS. Fossil Built Landscapes on Mountainous Uplands from the Sky” (2017) was presented by Gianluca Cantoro.

The research project of the group of of D. Catapoti, I. Skounaki and G. Goumopoulou titled “The ‘open’ archaeological site as an alternative management model in urban environment: Akadimia Platonos and Philopappos Hill” (2018) was presented by Ioulia Skounaki and Georgia Goumopoulou.

Seminar by Danae Karydaki and Kostis Gkotsinas

The 5th RCH Researcher’s Seminar was held on Friday June 1st 2018.

Danae Karydaki presented her project named “Island of the Pariahs: the History of the Leros Psychiatric Hospital (1957-1995)” (2018) and Kostis Gkotsinas presented his, named “A last drink? Alcohol and Anti-alcoholism in Greece (1870-1940)” (2018).

Seminar by Eleni Kaklamanou and Ioannis Papachristou

Eleni Kaklamanou and Ioannis Papachristou presented their projects at the 4th RCH Researchers’ Seminar, held on Friday May 18th 2018.

Eleni Kaklamanou talked about her research about “The Necessity of the ‘Useful Lies’ in Plato’s Republic” (2018) and Ioannis Papachristou about “Memory in the Late Platonic Tradition” (2017).

Seminar by Nikos Christofis and Konstantina Kalfa

The 3rd RCH Researchers’ Seminar took place on Friday April 24th 2018.

During the seminar the audience listened about Nikos Christofis’s project about “Enosis in the political discourses of the Greek and Cypriot Left in the 1950s and 1960s: The multifaceted trajectories of a movement”(2017) and Konstantina Kalfa’s research, named “Towards an alternative historiography of (modern Greek) architecture, 1945-67” (2018).

Seminar by Sophia Nikolaidou

The 2nd RCH Researchers’ Seminar was held on Friday April 20th 2018.

Sophia Nikolaidou presented the research she conducted in 2017, titled “Urban social initiatives for ‘food justice’: new forms of solidarity networks and social interaction in Greece.”

Following the presentation, there was a screening of a documentary film directed by Cilia Martin, titled “Le panier” (“The basket”).

Seminar by Anna Papaeti and Dimitris Kountouras

On Friday March 30th 2018, the 1st RCH Researchers’ Seminar introduced the new custom of regular scientific meetings between RCH Researchers.

Anna Papaeti presented the research project she conducted in 2017, named “Music in the Prison Camps of the (Post) Civil-War Era in Greece (1947–1957)”.

Following, Dimitris Kountouras presented his research, named “Music and poetry of the trobadours at the latin kingdom of Thessaloniki of 1204” which was funded by RCH in 2016.
